This page explains what happens to your personal data when you use secondnoon.com. It describes what the shop really does — no more, no less.

Who is responsible

[registered business name], [registered address], is the controller of your data. Questions, or any request below, go to hello@secondnoon.com.

What we collect

When you buy something: your email address, your first and last name, your country, what you bought, what you paid and when. We need these to process the order and send your files. Your card details never reach us — see “Payments” below.

If you create an account: the same details, plus a password we store only as a cryptographic hash, and the history of your orders.

When you contact us: whatever you write to us, so we can answer.

When you browse: our server logs the pages requested, with an IP address and browser type, to keep the site working and safe. Google Analytics counts visits, and, if marketing cookies are on, Meta measures our ads. Both are described below.

Visit statistics (Google Analytics)

Google Analytics tells us how many people visit, which pages they use and how many of them buy. It receives the address of each page you view, with search terms and other details you typed removed first; what you bought and the order total, when you buy; and technical details such as your browser, your device and an approximate location Google works out from your IP address. It never receives your name or email address. It runs for every visitor.

Advertising (Meta)

We advertise on Facebook and Instagram. To measure those ads, and only while marketing cookies are on, the shop uses two Meta tools:

  • The Meta Pixel runs in your browser. It tells Meta the address of the page you’re viewing, along with your IP address and browser details, and on product, checkout and order pages the price or order total and our codes for the products. It sets the _fbp and _fbc cookies.
  • Meta’s Conversions API: when you place an order, our server tells Meta its reference, total and product codes, your IP address, browser details and Meta’s cookie values, and your email address, name, country and our customer number for you in hashed form (turned into a code Meta can compare with its own records, rather than sent as text).

Meta uses this to link purchases to the ads people saw, under its own privacy policy.

When marketing cookies are on: in the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and wherever we can’t tell your country, we ask first and nothing loads until you agree. Elsewhere they’re on unless you turn them off. They’re always off while your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. You can change your choice at any time in cookie settings.

Cookies

Needed to run the shop. These are set by this site only, are not readable by JavaScript, and are sent only to us.

Cookie Purpose Kept for
nl_cart Remembers your basket between visits 30 days
nl_auth Keeps you signed in to your account 7 days
nl_order_access Lets the browser that paid see that order’s downloads 30 days
nl_library Remembers a library link you opened from an email 7 days
nl_consent Remembers your choice about marketing cookies 1 year

Visit statistics. Set by Google Analytics.

Cookie Purpose Kept for
_ga, _ga_ followed by an ID Tell a returning browser from a new one, so visits are counted once 2 years

Marketing, only while marketing cookies are on. Set by the Meta Pixel. When you turn marketing cookies off, we delete them.

Cookie Purpose Kept for
_fbp Recognises your browser, so Meta can measure our ads 90 days
_fbc Remembers which of our ads you clicked, if any 90 days

The shop also keeps short notes in your browser’s session storage so that a page which reloads itself isn’t counted twice. They disappear when you close the tab.

Why we’re allowed to use your data

  • To perform our contract with you: taking payment, delivering files, running your account and handling refunds.
  • Our legitimate interest: keeping the shop secure and preventing fraud, answering your messages, and counting visits with Google Analytics.
  • Your consent, where the law requires it: for marketing cookies and for telling Meta about your purchase. You can withdraw it at any time in cookie settings.
  • Legal obligation: keeping invoices and tax records.

Who else sees it

We don’t sell your data for money. We share it for advertising only with Meta, and only as described under “Advertising (Meta)” above. We use a small number of processors to run the shop:

  • Stripe — takes the payment. You enter your card details directly with Stripe; we receive only the result, the last digits and the card brand.
  • Resend — sends your order, download and account emails.
  • Google — runs Google Analytics for us.
  • Our hosting and database providers — store the shop’s data.
  • The file hosts (for example cloud storage providers) — serve the file your download link points to.

Some of these are outside your country, including the United States, and so is Meta. Transfers rely on the standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

We also disclose data where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Order and invoice records: as long as tax law requires, normally 6–10 years.
  • Account data: until you close your account, then deleted or anonymised.
  • Support emails: up to 3 years.
  • Server logs: a few weeks.

Your rights

You can ask us to: give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or send it to another provider. Write to hello@secondnoon.com and we’ll answer within 30 days. Deleting an account also switches off its download links, and we may have to keep order records for tax reasons.

If you think we’ve handled your data badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority.

Children

The shop is meant for professionals and students in higher education. We don’t knowingly collect data from children under 16.
